Georgia A. Davis, M.D.

Dr. Georgia A. Davis received her medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She completed an internship in pediatrics and a residency in psychiatry at St. John’s Hospital and Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. After completion of her internship, she joined the faculty of the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry . She was also a Child Psychiatrist for the State of Illinois McFarland Zone Center, Child and Adolescent Unit.

Dr. Davis is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She also has been certified by the Board of Forensic Psychiatry and Forensic Medicine and is a diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Examiners. She is a current member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Illinois State Medical Society and the Sangamon County Medical Society.

She has also interned with Dr. Daniel Amen, M.D. of the Amen Clinic in California and Dr. Dan Pavel, M.D. at the University of Illinois Medical School, Chicago, Illinois. She has completed post-graduate training as a DAN (Defeat Autism Now) physician and is currently being mentored by Dr. Jacqueline McCandless,M.D, DAN physician and author of "Children with Starving Brains".

Dr. Davis is currently an adjunct faculty member of theUniversity of Illinois Medical School at Chicago where she received her certification in the use of nuclear brain imaging for the evaluation and treatment of mild to severe brain trauma, dementia and cognitive decline, seizure activity, atypical and refractory psychiatric disorders, aggressive/violent behaviors, brain effects of substance abuse, exposure to toxic substances, suicidal behaviors, temporal lobe dysfunction and forensic/legal evaluations. SPECT imaging provides physicians with detailed pictures of brain function and is helpful in accurately diagnosing and treating complex psychiatric disorders. In association with Dr. Pavel, their work with SPECT has been published and presented at both national and international conferences.

Dr. Davis is in private practice in Springfield as a psychiatric intensivist, specializing in anxiety and mood disorders, Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). She focuses on diagnosis and treatment of children, adolescents and adults with complex neuro-psychiatric conditions and provides individualized care which is state-of the- art and quite comprehensive. As a private practitioner, Dr. Davis may request a variety of diagnostic tests as needed for the appropriate diagnosis and treatment of her patients. She uses many modalities to treat the underlying causes of symptoms, including prescription medications, nutritional, vitamin and mineral therapies, toxic metals chelation, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy.

Prior to entering the field of medicine, Dr. Davis was well known locally for her community service with children, adolescents, parents, educators and community organizations as a consultant and educator for Springfield School District #186. She founded an early childhood /parent education program known as "Fun Shop" more than 30 years ago. She also established "Camp CoCo" a summer camp for children with cancer and other long-term illnesses.
